Thursday, Friday, Happy Days.

Sunday, Monday, Happy Days.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days.
Thursday, Friday, Happy Days.
The weekend comes,
My cycle hums,
Ready to race to you.

So went the words to Happy Days, and Happy Days has come to Westminster again. Yesterday Nutsville posted about Westminster Council replacing signs which had been damaged. Damaged signs convert the scooter and motorbike parking bays back to free parking. But no sooner had the Council replaced the signs and they were damaged again today, along with what we estimate to be a further 50% more M/C bays liberated.

We guess this is inevitable as Westminster Council would rather keep the shareholders of Verrus more happy than the public, who overwhelmingly said NO to the bike parking tax.

A parking sign that has been “Rathboned” (obliterated with paint in any way) is invalid, if you park in a bay whose sign has been painted DO NOT PAY! You cannot be given a ticket. A ticket issued in error will be cancelled upon appeal. Just make sure you take a pic of your bike like Morph does. Full details here.

Verrus obviously has friends in Westminster council.

Well done! Captain Rathbone is the King or Queen of all the bikers in the world!

Never paid Verrus a penny to park my bike yet, as I always carry a can with me. Fuck em!

I get the feeling that the motorcycle bay signs will continue to be damaged, removed and painted over until the motorbike parking tax is abolished. It’s going to cost Westminster City Council a fortune to replace all the defaced signs! Let this be a lesson to other councils (like Camden) – don’t even think about charging motorcycles and scooters to park in motorcycle bays!

WHY CARRY A MOBILE PHONE AND A CREDIT CARD WHEN ALL YOU NEED IS A CAN ?

I hope the toffs in the Tory party are reading this. Westminster City Council are not such a model Council now are they?

Is this what we can expect if the Conservatives come to power, more DO AS I SAY AND DON’T ASK QUESTIONS, JUST PAY UP!

To all the Councillors reading and thinking that the solution is to catch someone in the act and have them prosecuted – think again. It wont make the problem go away and will galvanize support. You can push British people only so far and then they will snap. That point was passed long ago. We are sick of seeing conmmon sense derided by those who we elect. This is not about sensible policy, it’s about hard and fast cash and how much can be earned by a private company using the auspices of a public body to front it.

I think that Chalkley and his fellow Councillors have seriously underestimated the mood of the public after the MP’s expenses scandal.

Only a fool would treat the public with such contempt in a local election year.

Does he not know how much the public now despise politicians, I think this will come back to bite him.

NEW signs are not the same as the OLD signs (note absence of the “Mon-Sat” part). Does this mean that WCC are going to start trying to illegally ticket cars who have got used to being able to park in the m/c bays on a Sunday, to try to raise even more cash!?
