Westminster cut up our Hummer!

16 June 2008 14:48

Driving in London is a troublesome matter. Nutsville took ageing hag Cllr Burp-Bitch and her advice and has changed from riding a motorcycle and now darkens the streets with a Hummer!

As a new Hummer driver, Nutsville has to contend on a daily basis with other cars, lorries and motorbikes (although those pesky two wheelers can’t pass us now) and additionally has to keep a keen eye open for any instructions and hazards.

Hazards such as wandering tourists (they usually look left before crossing), cows in the road or leather clad bikers (West End Extra has a fixation with saying ‘leather clad’, I’m moist, are you) are all very much in the mind of the observant driver going about his journey.

On top of all of that, the man in the seat must pay attention to road signs and directions, placed to usually assist with traffic flow and vehicle management.

And that is where we come, yet again to Westminster Council….

Barely a day after the appalling double parking transgression of the Westminster Street team, Nutsville observes a Westminster Council vehicle blatantly disregarding the rules of the road as it cuts across our massive Hummer at Hyde Park corner.

Let Nutsville explain;

If one leaves Hyde Park corner in London and heads southwards towards Victoria down Grosvenor Place, almost immediately to the right there is an enticing road called Halkin Street.

That street is appealing because it is a one-way cut through to Belgrave Square and saves the annoyance of negotiating Grosvenor Crescent to the north or Chapel Street or Chester Street to the south.

Sensibly, because it is so near the traffic lights at Hyde Park corner, motor vehicles going south from Hyde Park corner are banned from turning right into Halkin Street as this would cause major disruption to vehicles feeding into the one-way system.

Except if you are a Westminster vehicle…….

Westminster have been caught by Nutsville manifestly ignoring the rules and regulations of the road that you or I have to adhere to.

On this occasion they took the easy route using the banned turn into Halkin Street from Grosvenor Place. Never mind the banned turning sign or the fact that ‘Ahead Only’ is emblazoned in 36” high letters on the road (twice!) The lazy driver of vehicle FP55 TPZ felt the regulations were only optional for him and went ahead anyway.

Make a note of that number and if you ever see it coming near you find a safe doorway to seek refuge until it has passed in to the distance – you just never know what the crazy driver will do next.

As the car says on its side, the Streets may be Safe, but the Roads aren’t!

We’re taking our Hummer back soon to part exchange for a bike, as we don’t think Cllr Burbridge was telling the truth about Hummers after all, and the leathers were too hot and moist, we are shocked!

Beep Beep!

I assume Westminster City Council staff are happy to break the rules because they know that they will get away with it as Westminster don’t take enforcement action on their own vehicles. This is so corrupt it’s shocking!

Man? The driver looks to have a severe polo neck apparel on, it could be turkey neck sexist Batty Burbridge and not a man at all.

This reflects the way Westminster City Council train their staff…
