£12,140 Chalkley survey cock-up

In early 2009 Westminster City Councillor Chalkley commissioned an on-street survey to see just how unwanted his charging for bike parking tax really was. Although he is so arrogant in his opinions he probably thought the survey would work in his favour and show that motorists really did think motorcycles and scooters should pay to park in Westminster. The survey only proved what we have said all along, the majority of motorists (car drivers and bikers) don’t want bikes to pay for parking.

This is what you need

The survey, which a recent Freedom of Information request has revealed cost the taxpayers £12,140 was not only ignored by the Scrutiny Committee, but also doesn’t add up.

We asked one of our writers’ five year old daughter if she wouldn’t mind checking over the councils figures for us. The councils figures say that of the 295 motorcyclists asked, 17 of those were residents of Westminster, which they say represents 2.7%.

But our five year old reckoned it was 17/295 = 5.7627% There are quite a few other mathematical errors in this ‘professionally produced’ survey. But even though that’s not the only error, as our little girl does not get a part of the huge pot of bonuses council officers have just received, we don’t see why we should do your jobs for you.

Lucy Adams who made the FOI request asked the council “Have I been provided with false and inaccurate information in your answer to my FOI request?” still hasn’t had an answer from Westminster’s parking department.

Is anybody worried that Westminster parking department handle millions of your money each year, and cannot do even basic maths?

That is quite extraordinary. How DID Nutsville manage to get a picture of Danny Chalkely at school? Quite fetching…..

I am pretty certain he still has his ‘Speak and Spell ‘ machine close to hand in light of his recent press releases.

Bunch of inept twats who couldn’t run a piss up in the back of one of Bracey’s beer wagons.

How do we know that it actually cost £12,140 I certainly don’t believe the information coming out of the “Freedom of information” department at Westminster City Hall…

More examples of absolute disregard for public money. What, exactly, is the point of going to the trouble of getting a survey done and then totally disregarding it?

Come election time none of this will be forgotten.

£12k spent on a survey that was totally ignored purely because its results turned out to be the opposite of what the council wanted to see… This is outrageous given that it is US residents paying for that rubbish! Typical of the Conservatives. I will not forget Chalkley come the elections next year, he will not have my vote, that’s for sure!

Westminster Council staff can’t even do basic maths! And they publish reports that don’t add up and are full of numerical mistakes! How can they be credible? We are paying the wages of a group of illiterate Conservative bureaucrates. Let’s vote these illiterate Conservative councillors out next year, in May 2010.

He should have that twelve grand taken off of his ‘allowances’.
